MAR Y MIEL, CASA 8

Mar y Miel Casa 8 marks our studio’s third intervention within this development, offering an opportunity to further define our design language while staying true to the essence of the property and the needs of its owners. Conceived as a simple yet distinctive residence, the project celebrates Tulum’s signature aesthetic through solid woods, natural fibers, and locally sourced materials that interact organically with the home’s architecture.

THE CHALLENGE

The main challenge of Mar y Miel Casa 8 was to bring a fresh identity to a development where we had already completed two projects, avoiding repetition while creating something unique.
The clients envisioned a simple space that would stand out and convey a strong sense of character. Our goal was to introduce a warm, authentic interior design into an architectural setting defined by microcement walls and floors, textured ceilings, and black metalwork, ensuring that each element complemented the strength of the architecture without compromising warmth.

AN EVOLVING APPROACH

This project allowed us to explore a more refined interpretation of Tulum’s distinctive style.
We incorporated locally sourced solid woods into the dining table, stools, headboards, and bedside tables, allowing their warm tones to contrast with the understated gray surfaces while adding visual and tactile richness.
Woven palm pendant lights with cotton fringes, macramé wall hangings, natural wool throws with terracotta accents, and natural fiber rugs introduce an artisanal touch, softening the architectural materials and bringing texture and warmth to the interiors.

THE FINAL PROPOSAL

The result is a serene, warm, and deeply authentic home, where a palette of greys, natural tones, wood, and black is brought to life by subtle accents of terracotta, ochre, and green.

Expansive windows seamlessly integrate the surrounding greenery into the design, while pieces such as the modular sofa and dark wood coffee table enhance the contemporary yet inviting atmosphere.

Mar y Miel Casa 8 embodies our vision of creating spaces with a distinct identity, in harmony with their architecture and the authentic spirit of Tulum.
